January is Kindness Month @ SJLES

January's character trait focus is on being Kind and we have two special activities happening to support the development of this trait.
Kindness Rocks - We have been working this month on a community project of Kindness Rocks. Students in all grades have been learning about the value of a kind message, and have been making kindness rocks. They are choosing a picture, word or phrase that gives a kind, positive or encouraging message and writing on a painted rock. These rocks will be used around our school grounds and out in the community to spread our mission of kindness.
The Great Kindness Challenge - SJLES is once again participating in the Great Kindness Challenge. The Challenge begins Monday, January 22 and runs thru Friday. A checklist is coming home today with 50 suggestions of kind acts the students can do. Check off any that your child completes and feel free to add your own. Any child who returns their checklist the following week, with any number of items completed, will earn a charm for their Walking Wednesday Necklace.
