The Hour of Code is coming to SJLES!

Fri, 12/02/2016 - 2:04pm

SJLES would like to announce our participation in The Hour of Code during Computer Science Education Week, December 5-9, 2016.

The Hour of Code is a global movement by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries through a one-hour introduction to computer science and computer programming. We live in a world surrounded by technology and we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly hinge on understanding how technology works.  Computing makes up two-thirds of the projected new jobs in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). St. John's Lane's participation in The Hour of Code supports our teaching of these foundational 21st century skills so that each child will have the opportunity to learn computer science.
We encourage you to visit https://code.org for more information and activities and to try some of the coding tutorials designed for all ages.
