SJLES Updates 3/26/2021

Fri, 03/26/2021 - 2:54pm

Greetings SJLES Families,

After welcoming back our students in Group E and two cohorts of our primary grade Jaguars, facilitating three parent orientations and five student orientations, and providing countless communications to you all, our school family becomes closer to being whole next week as we welcome back our intermediate students who chose in-person learning. The energy and excitement has continued to build along the way at every step. After our student orientations yesterday, it is clear that our in-person 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are excited to return to SJLES. Just a reminder that Cohort A joins us on Monday and Tuesday while Cohort B joins us starting on Thursday. Spring Break beings on Friday. We are so excited to welcome our kids back!

Our in-person and virtual students continue to make us proud. We hope your child’s experience in each setting is serving them well and that our students and families continue to feel connected and supported by our staff and administrative team. We continue to monitor all aspects of our practices and programming in each setting to be of the best service we can to each SJLES student and family. Continue to reach out to me, Mrs. Redd, and our staff at any time! We appreciate your questions and feedback. We hope you all have a great weekend, enjoy the warm weather, and stay safe!

Sincerely,

Dan Notari

SJLES Principal

HCPSS Digital Education Center Virtual Information Sessions

The Howard County Public School System is considering a virtual school option for students in grades K-12 who wish to remain virtual for the 2021-2022 (upcoming) school year. Once finalized, the Digital Education Center program will give students the option to access synchronous (real-time) instruction and digital assignments while receiving support services from the student’s districted home school.

The HCPSS Digital Education Center (DEC) is currently in the planning and design phase. Students and families interested in learning about the DEC option can register to attend a virtual information session Wednesday, March 31, at 1 or 7pm. Please select one of the links below to register for a session and receive login information:

Please note that decisions on the 2021-2022 academic year, in terms of students returning in person, hybrid or virtually have not yet been determined, and will be communicated as soon as possible.
