Welcome to the 25-26 school year! I’m excited to begin my fifth year as Assistant Principal here at St. John’s Lane Elementary. This role brings me great joy, and it has been shaped by a wide range of experiences that have prepared me to support our students, staff, and families with care and purpose.
My career in education began in special education, where I taught middle school for six years, first in Baltimore County and then at Elkridge Landing Middle School in Howard County. I then transitioned to a role as a Resource Teacher for the Department of Special Education, where I supported students and staff across elementary, middle, and high schools. During that time, I also had the pleasure of serving as an administrator for the BSAP Saturday Math Academy. That work, and the amazing families and staff I met through it, inspired me to pursue school leadership. In 2018, I joined the team at Cedar Lane School as the Instructional Program Design Leader and Inclusion Liaison. The following year, I became an administrator at Hollifield Station Elementary before arriving at SJLES, a school I have loved calling “home” for four years.
I hold a B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders and an M.Ed. in Special Education from James Madison University. I also earned an Advanced Certificate in Educational Leadership and Organizational Change from Towson University. Being a lover of lifelong learning, I have continued my involvement in higher education by serving as an adjunct faculty member at Howard Community College, where I have taught courses in special education and child development since 2009.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have two high schoolers, a dog, and a cat that keep my husband and I very busy! Whether in my role as an educator, parent, or community member, I am committed to building strong, positive relationships. I look forward to partnering with you to ensure your child’s elementary school experience is successful, joyful, and enriching. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, ideas, or suggestions. I am honored to be part of your child’s elementary school journey!
