SJLES Updates 8/4/21

Greetings SJLES Families, 

It is a busy and engaging summer week here at The Lane! Today’s docket is full with two virtual lunch bunches in just a bit, a Kindergarten Popsicles on the Playground at 6:00, and a PTA summer planning session at 8:00. Tomorrow night our rising first graders get a chance to connect with their friends on the playground and enjoy a treat, as well. We have new Jaguar Summer Stories to share, as well! All the details you need to know are below. Mrs. Coleman and I hope all is well and please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if we can be of any service to your family as we approach the start to a great school year!

Virtual Lunch Bunches TODAY!

Ms. Coleman and I truly enjoyed engaging with our students and staff at last week’s virtual lunch bunches. Our next lunch bunches are scheduled for TODAY at 11:00 for our primary students and 12:00 for our intermediate students.  Here are the details and links for each lunch bunch…

Kindergarten Popsicles on the Playground TONIGHT! 

Tonight our kindergarten team & PTA will host our final kindergarten meet and greet this summer where our students can play on our playground, enjoy a treat, begin new friendships, and meet some members of our world famous staff. We couldn’t be more excited to meet you all and welcome our newest Jaguars and families to SJLES. Be on the lookout for details regarding our school-wide Jaguar Playdate which will be held on August 18th! 

Please feel free to forward this information and spread the word to your friends and neighbors that have a child registered for kindergarten at SJLES. Jaguar Summer Stories 

Our world famous SJLES staff will be sharing weekly read-alouds each Wednesday throughout the summer break with our Jaguars! This week, Mrs. Pauller shares a favorite story with our Jaguars.

Rising 1st Grade Popsicles on the Playground THIS THURSDAY!

Our PTA and first grade team will host a Popsicles on the Playground tomorrow, Thursday, 8/5 @ 6:00-7:00. This event will provide an optional opportunity for our rising first graders to play with friends, enjoy a treat, and engage with some members of our world famous staff. HELP SPREAD THE WORD! 2021-2022 Kindergarten is OPEN!

Children must be 5 years old by September 1, 2021 to register for Kindergarten. 

Registration will take place online and then the final steps can be in person, if needed.  

Step 1: Register Online Here: https://www.hcpss.org/enroll/ 

  • Please make certain you are on the screen for 21-22 if registering for the next school year.

  • It is recommended that you work on a laptop or desktop to complete registration. Cell phone registration is not recommended. 

Step 2: Complete registration online by providing the documents listed below. The registration process is easier if you upload them during online registration. Otherwise, you will be asked to submit them via email as pdfs. Iphone users can scan documents through your notes app. Please note that Images must be clear.

The following documents are needed for registration:

  • Child’s evidence of birth and Parental Relationship (ie: birth certificate, baptismal certificate)

  • An authorized record of immunizations

  • Proof of residency in the form of a signed lease or deed including signature page

  • Current utility bill

  • Photo ID of enrolling parent/guardian

  • Proof of custody (if applicable)

Join Our SJLES Team!

  • Close Adult Support Position

    • This service is provided to some of our students receiving special education services 

    • Applicants will apply through an outside agency that staffs these positions at SJLES. 

    • If you are interested in learning more please contact our Assistant Principal Erin Coleman at erin_coleman@hcpss.org and visit this link to apply. 

    • Hours are typically 8:45-3:15.

    • We also frequently need substitutes for this role, so if you are looking for just occasional work please let us know! 

  • Lunch and Recess Monitors

    • This position provides the opportunity to support and engage with our students during the lunch and recess periods.

    • Approximately 15 hours per week for full time monitors at a $12.50 per hour rat

    • We are also looking for lunch and recess monitor substitutes.
