SJLES Updates 6/3/22

Mon, 06/06/2022 - 1:39pm

Greetings SJLES Families,

It was a great day at SJLES! The much anticipated return of in-person Field Day is over, our Jaguars could not have had more fun, and it was wonderful to see so many volunteers and visitors at school today. Ms. Coleman and I want to thank our PE Team of Ms. Carty, Mr. Frantz, and Ms. Orgera for making today happen; for teaching our kids all the skills they demonstrated today; and for framing the day around, health, fitness, sportsmanship, and cooperation. A most sincere thank you to all our volunteers and PTA for supporting today’s Field Day.

After almost three years of having the privilege of serving our outstanding school as principal, it was simply awesome to enjoy Field Day with our students, staff, and families. Ms. Coleman and I are looking forward to every special end of year event, picnic, and closing ceremony that lies ahead to bring proper closure to a great year together as a school community. Have a great weekend and check out our Twitter page for some photos from the day! PTA Ice cream social starts at 6:00 tonight!

Sincerely,

Dan Notari

SJLES Principal

Indicators of Educational Equity Survey: 130 Parent Responses! Thank you!

As part of our school improvement process, we are reopening the survey to seek additional input regarding our families’ equity priorities for our school. Please use the link below to complete the Indicators of Educational Equity Survey. We will use your input, along with other school data, to refine our school improvement plan for next school year.

The survey is anonymous and available in multiple languages. If you have children at more than one school, please complete one survey per school.

REMINDER: Chromebook Summer Storage

HCPSS has been fortunate to have a 1:1 device ratio for most of our students. As we come to the end of the 2021-2022 school year, we will implement the following summer 2022 Chromebook storage and use process for specified grade levels.

Grade Level

Summer 2022 Storage and Use

Grades K-4

Student Chromebooks will be stored at school over the summer. Each student’s assigned Chromebook will be returned to them for use during the 2022-2023 school year.

Grade 5

Students will keep their Chromebooks over the summer and take them to their assigned middle school at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.

All students participating in a HCPSS Summer Program, including Extended School Year ESY and ESY-RECC special education, may take their Chromebooks with them for the summer so that they can be used during their program. At the conclusion of HCPSS Summer Programs, students will keep their Chromebooks for the remainder of the summer and take them to their assigned school at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.

Students not returning to HCPSS should return their Chromebook to their home school on or before the last day of school for students. Please look for additional information from your child’s homeroom teacher regarding end of year procedures for Chromebooks.
