May Day Festival is Almost Here - Mark Your Calendar for May 11!

The Magic of May Day is in the heart and soul of our volunteers.

We still need lots of help so the May Day Festival can run smoothly.  The jobs are easy, fun, and short time slots!  It will be an awesome day if we can all come together to make it happen.

Pre-sales ended April 26. Families and friends can still join in on the fun so continue to spread the word! Admission is free!  Tickets or wristband required for games and attractions will be sold on the day of the event. Pre-sale orders will be ready for pickup at will call.

Online Silent Auction will begin on May 6.

Next Week: Staff Appreciation Week

The SJLES PTA Staff Appreciation Committee is gearing up for Teacher Appreciation Week May 6-10. We are excited to celebrate our staff each day with a small token of appreciation. We encourage you to send in a note or homemade card letting staff know how much you appreciate them too! This year’s theme is “SJLES staff rocks!” 

 

May 15th @ 6:30:  In Person PTA Meeting

In order to vote on the next board, our next PTA meeting will be in-person in the media center on 5/15 @ 6:30. Please come join us!  We are still looking for PTA Council of Howard County Representatives! These positions are critical for SJLES to stay up to speed on what is happening in the county. ‘Healthy Minds, Healthy Me’ Program: Navigating Mental Health Symptoms

New to the Healthy Minds, Healthy Me program? Get the background and catch up on prior week’s resources on the the SJLES PTA Facebook page and Healthy Minds, Healthy Me program page on the PTA Website.

 

This week the focus is on how to identify and respond to a mental health crisis or support yourself or a loved one who is experiencing mental health symptoms.

LEARN: 

TAKE ACTION:

  • Participate: NAMI Basics is an online 6-session education program for parents, caregivers and other family members who provide care for youth (ages 22 and younger) who are experiencing mental health symptoms. This program is at no cost to participants.

  • Participate: in a Parent or Family Support Group. These informal support group meetings are always free of charge and are led by a National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) trained and certified leader. All groups are confidential—you can share as much or as little personal information as you wish.

GET SUPPORT: 

  • National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Howard County 

    • Call the Crisis Line for immediate support 1-800-273-8255

    • Chat one-to-one online at: www.Foundation2CrisisChat.org. Online & texting chats are available from 9am-3pm M-F. All contacts are confidential.

  • Dial 9-8-8: If you have a behavioral health crisis or just need someone to talk to, whether about yourself or your loved one, 988 provides free and confidential support from highly trained professionals who can help you through it.
