SJLES Update 1/6/23

Fri, 01/06/2023 - 11:05am

Greetings SJLES Families,

On behalf of Ms. Coleman and our entire SJLES Staff, we hope that every SJLES family had a wonderful winter break and we wish you and your family health and happiness in 2023!

It has been a great first week of school in 2023 here at The Lane. Our Jaguars have picked up right where they left off being Kind, Engaged, Responsible, and Resilient throughout their school day. They were very excited to share their favorite winter break memories with us and possibly even more excited about our PTA-sponsored Cultural Arts event Prismatic Magic Laser Show later this afternoon. If you haven’t joined our PTA yet please consider doing so. Their partnership and support is so incredibly important to the success of our school and community. Have a great Friday and even better weekend, SJLES!

Sincerely,

Dan Notari

SJLES Principal

NEW NEWS

Family Feedback Engagement Opportunities

During the Principal’s Report portion of the monthly PTA Zoom Meeting on January 11th at 8:00 PM, Mr. Notari will present a condensed version of the SJLES Family Feedback Survey results and facilitate a conversation with our attending families regarding the current state of our school.

On Friday, January 13th at 9:00 AM, we will host an in-person Coffee and Conversation with Administration here at SJLES to discuss the results and insights to our school’s current state and practices in greater detail. Thank you to our PTA for providing light refreshments. If you are interested in attending please RSVP by emailing our principal’s secretary Mrs. Newberry at kathleen_newberry@hcpss.orgAn RSVP is not necessary but will allow us to purchase the just right amount of refreshments for our attendees.

Cozy Night of Reading & Read-A-Thon is Coming!

Mark your Calendars – we will be holding a new FREE event this year! On Thursday, January 12, the PTA will host a Cozy Reading Night from 6:00-7:45 PM at school. Students are invited to wear their PJs, bring a blanket or stuffed animal, enjoy cookies and milk, and listen to read-alouds from our amazing staff!

Cozy Reading Night also celebrates the start of our first SJLES Read-a-thon! The Read-a-thon program is a perfect opportunity to encourage a love of reading while also raising money for the school. Our Read-a-thon will take place after winter break from January 9 – 27 and we’ll communicate the details on how easy it is to participate as it gets closer. All Jaguars and their families are invited to attend Cozy Reading Night, whether or not they choose to participate in the Read-a-thon. See you on January 12!
