Staff Shout Outs: THIS WEEK | Restaurant Night: 3/6 | Book Fair:3/17
Shout Out Our Staff THIS WEEK!! February 26th - March 2nd is Employee Appreciation Week throughout HCPSS. Ms. Coleman and I are planning something special each day of the week to show our appreciation for the outstanding people who make a positive and lasting impact upon the lives of our students each and every day at SJLES. We wanted to extend our families an opportunity to join in on the fun. We encourage our families to take a moment to recognize a staff member who has made a positive connection and/or impact upon your child and/or family. Feel free to submit this SJLES Staff Shout Out form multiple times for different staff members. We will share your message with each individual staff member. Thank you, SJLES Families, for the outstanding support and encouragement you always show our staff! It is greatly appreciated! 2024 Scholastic Book Fair Coming Soon! Great News! Our “BOLDER, PROUDER, STRONGER READERS!” Scholastic Book Fair is on its way to SJLES Media Center and will be open for students during their media classes from March 14-21. Special Evening Hours for Family Shopping will take place on Wednesday, March 20, from 3:55-7:30 PM. Families may also choose to shop online from March 13 - March 26. Proceeds from this fundraiser help support the SJLES PTA's mission and programs. To make this possible, we need volunteers to help students find and purchase their books. Please check out our sign up! Thank you for helping make sure this is a success! Contact the book fair team with any questions at sjlesbookfair@gmail.com. Book Fair Volunteers MUST Complete These Requirements: 1. Confidentiality Training Course and certification form; and 2. Child Abuse and Neglect Training and certification form. Help Spread the Word about our Book Fair! Make a Poster for our “BOLDER, PROUDER, STRONGER READERS!” Scholastic Book Fair and earn a Charm! Students can get posters and directions from outside Mrs. Peddicord's art room. Posters are due back to Mrs. Peddicord by Friday, March 1st. All posters will be displayed around the school the week before the Book Fair. Restaurant Night on Wednesday, March 6th Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 6th for Restaurant Night at Yama Sushi in Dorsey Hall. Please mention SJLES for Dine In, Pick up or Online Orders ALL Day!! 11 AM- 10PM. Howard County Budget The following message and advocacy information was provided by the Howard County PTA Council: The proposed budget for Howard County Schools increases class size, eliminates G/T seminars, and cuts funding to support staff among other things.
